Surface Finishes and Treatments for Zamak Die Castings

Surface finishes for zamak die castings

Micrometal carries out all finishing operations internally before delivering the die-cast parts to customers. The finishing phase is essential to prepare the zamak surfaces for subsequent treatments or to achieve the required final quality directly.

Shot blasting

Shot blasting removes the last traces of burrs, release agent and surface oxidation, creating a uniform matte surface ideal for subsequent galvanic treatments or painting. It is the standard finishing process for most of our production.

Vibratory finishing

Vibratory finishing is used when a smoother, more regular surface is required. The parts are placed in a vibrating drum with abrasive media that gradually smooth the surfaces. Ideal for components with complex geometries or aesthetic requirements.

Thermal deburring

For components with very complex geometries where mechanical deburring is difficult, we use thermal deburring (TEM). This process removes all burrs simultaneously through a controlled combustion process.

Galvanic treatments and painting

Through our network of qualified partner companies, we coordinate galvanic treatments (chrome plating, nickel plating, brass plating, powder coating) and liquid painting. We deliver the finished part ready for assembly. Contact us for more information.
